Getting my priorities straight

Okay. I know that Carrie lives in Athens, Georgia, and she assures me that there are plenty of knitters and bloggers there. What I need to know is: does anyone know any knitters and/or knitbloggers in Madison, Wisconsin?

(yes, there are other factors in choosing a school. but. . . already knowing some knitters would be nice).

I live not too far from Madison. I don't know any other knitters yet, but I can tell you there are plenty of yarn stores.

dunno about knittin' bloggers out there, but there's the wisconsin sheep breeders co-op and they have a sheep and wool fest every year

and then there's the madison knitters guild

glad to hear you haven't misplaced your priorities.

I know a few knitters from around Madison. And I live about 4 hrs from there.

i don't know any knitters there, but the one time i passed through madison was when i was hitching around to intentional communities (look up www.ic.org) all over north america. we stayed at the emma goldman co-op in madison and in fuckin rawked! i got the impression that there was a lot going on there with co-ops and community gardens an'... stuff that was exciting to me - i dunno about you...

A friend of mine originally from Edmonton just moved to Madison in the summer, and has started her own s'n'b there. Not a knit blogger, though (yet!).
Glad you figured out who your mean commenter was - now you need to teach her to spell!

Erm, don't know any knit bloggers in Georgia... but I do know one who lives just across the bridge from Halifax... me.

Well, completely aside from the fact that I have an entirely selfish desire to see you end up in Madison, I will point out that Madison is possibly the most liberal places in the world (or at least the United States, and how it ended up in the Middle of Wisconsin, I do not know), where many, many Cool Things happen. Knowing you as I do, I can be confident in suggeting that even if there were zero knitters in Madison and zero bloggers in Madison, you'd still find lots of ways to be happy there. That said, there are knitters & bloggers in Madison. Plenty of them.

It's for things like this that places like LiveJournal shines. There is a pretty strong basis of communities over there. you might drive around LJ for a while, looking for knitting or Madison as an interest. It'll be overwhelming, of course, but you've got a fair amount of time.
