Durrow

josh_modeling

Peter's birthday gift, kindly modeled by my school chum Josh. The pattern is available here, in the latest issue of Magknits.

The sweater was started on Peter's birthday in April, and completed in September. I guess if I want to make him another sweater for his next birthday, I had better start now.

You knitted Peter a moped? Cool!

Fantastic! Loving this pattern!! Thanks for putting it out there for us, Jodi. :)

The sweater is fantastic, Jodi- thanks for sharing it with us.

I love this pattern. Seriously. I almost thought to myself "Man, if only I wasn't already taken. I would use this sweater as dating criteria. Excuse me sir, do you love this sweater? Oh, never mind then. You! Do you love it? Excellent, my name is Heather and I'm your girlfriend."

Seriously man, you make the best patterns. :D

Posted by: brenda in toronto at October 31, 2005 03:02 PM

hee hee - i hit 'enter' before finishing my comment!

i was going to say, 'wow, what an amazing sweater'... i may take my chances against the 'boyfriend curse' and make this for the BF - it's right up his alley!!

beauty!

Posted by: brenda in toronto at October 31, 2005 03:05 PM

Jodi, it's really beautiful! (And Josh ain't so bad either.)

Posted by: CArrie at October 31, 2005 03:20 PM

Yikes, that guy is so adorable, it's hard to look at the sweater, which is fantastic. If only I had a man to knit it for...do you think that Petey would wear one?

Posted by: Anne Marie at October 31, 2005 03:54 PM

soooo nice! i love this sweater. the model isn't too bad either...

Posted by: grace at October 31, 2005 03:56 PM

Holy crap. I can't see the sweater. I'm blinded by Josh's beauty.

Posted by: Norma at October 31, 2005 04:02 PM

It's an absolutely gorgeous sweater and was the first topic of debate on the Knittyboards Magknits thread - that, and how much it would cost if the suggested yarn was used! I hope Pete enjoys it.

I just got an email from my Swedish emailing list telling me the new magknits is out and what do I find "designer Jodi Green" - I felt connected to the world baby! Thanks. And the sweater is awesome, and tell the man wearing it he looks totally hot (this time judged by a big breasted, blond and smart Swedish woman - me) *hugs*

Posted by: Lisa at October 31, 2005 04:17 PM

The sweater is beautiful! Forget the boys (though Josh is adorable), I'm knitting this one for myself.

Posted by: Karen at October 31, 2005 04:46 PM

Woo! Jodi! This is just GORGEOUS! I love the cables, you have to tell us how you transformed the drawn spirals into knitted spirals!!

Congratulations, beautiful work!!!!

Posted by: stefanie at October 31, 2005 04:55 PM

Man...I wish my boy would wear sweaters. That would be perfect for him.

Posted by: cari at October 31, 2005 06:07 PM

That dumb model has on crappy painting pants and he feels really bad about it.

Posted by: Josh at October 31, 2005 07:15 PM

That is seriously one sexy sweater... and the boy ain't so bad either. :) Nice work!!

Posted by: korin at October 31, 2005 07:54 PM

Let Josh know that the trousers are fine. In fact, it's all working! The pattern is amazing.

I thought Miz Mariah was fab but Durrow Totally Rocks!

Nevermind the dh - I'm makin' it for me!

Just 2 things else I want: the chart and schematics in a larger font.

Posted by: WoolleyMomMyth at November 1, 2005 02:28 AM

If feel like a vapid teenager with this phrase, but that jumper is totally hot. I need to make it. Right after I get around to making Mariah.

Posted by: crumpet at November 1, 2005 03:18 AM

echoing the previous comments - it's gorgeous. i've been cursing the lack of really good men's sweater designs. the spiral cable effect is spectacular.

Posted by: anna at November 1, 2005 05:25 AM

Oh wow. If ever a sweater was worthy of testing the so-called "curse," this is it. 'Cause I don't really believe all that superstition anyway...

Posted by: anne at November 1, 2005 11:55 AM

My husband won't wear sweaters so I can make this for me! Jodi, I love the detailed sleeves- nothing for me is worse boring straight st sleeve hell.

Josh can come paint for me anytime. :)

i absolutely LOVE your durrow sweater! i started it THE DAY the new magknits came out and am already finished with the back. it's perfect for some yarn that i've been holding out on for a while. however, magknits didn't publish a chart pattern - is there any way to get a copy from you?? thanks!

Posted by: johnnystiletto at November 1, 2005 07:32 PM

love your site and am dieing to make the durrow sweater. where can i get the cable chart? thanks.

Posted by: meg at November 2, 2005 04:57 PM

I didn't leave a comment yet?
Gah!

Excellent sweater, Green, Excellent...

I've already scammed some paper from the recycling at work to print it. Hey, if I'm gonna be a "badass" and use the work printer for personal stuff, the least I can do is recycle the paper. Oh man, I suck at being "badass".

Love the sweater, love the young man! But need the chart! Shouldn't it be posted somewhere so all of us don't have to write to you ?? Please send it if possible. Thanx so much!

Posted by: Cheryl at November 3, 2005 07:46 PM

GREAT design, Jodi! I see this one in my future... I can almost picture my husand in it already :)

Posted by: Lolly at November 4, 2005 10:25 AM

I saw the pattern on Magnknits - it's fantastic! Would it be possible for you to email me the cable chart? Thanks!

Posted by: Daisy at November 4, 2005 10:57 PM

Jodi, I seriously love your designs. Love them. I think you bring such a fresh perspective on elements such as cables that could be stodgy and "been there done that" so easily. But its hard to put into words. Keep on doing it, babe.

Posted by: claudia at November 5, 2005 09:30 AM

Durrow is crazy great...very sexy cables...
