the cool light of morning

Having slept on it (and sobered up) I feel a little better about this, and considerably less melodramatic (sorry about that, y'all. Blame the beer; while I didn't have much, I drank it FAST). However, anything shitty I might have said last night about certain Ontario women who chose to support the patriarchy, I still stand by. Those women are stupid.

This government will be weak and can't last any longer than the previous one; the margin by which they won is so slender that they're essentially hobbled, and won't be able to do as much damage as I'd feared. And I can't wait to see that smarmy jackass Harper have to wheedle and make deals with the opposition; good luck with that, asshole.

I feel your pain. Where will all the disaffected Americans move?

It's really depressing to see the pendulum swing in this direction, isn't it? Believe me, you're feeling the same way nearly half the Americans felt after our last election. Maybe this will give the Canadians who look down on us some perspective--we're not all a bunch of rabid conservatives. Nor are you.

Hang in there. It's never as dark as you think.

Jodi, I am so very sorry. I know the feeling, and I hope you're right about the duration of this government's administration.

that is the one glimmer of goodness. . the opportunity to watch Harper *try* to get his head out of his ass and attempt to make these numbers work..
regardless, it's a sad day for Canada.

Personally, I thought the black armband was quite apropos.

It was not so long ago that I awoke in the State of New York feeling so bleak that GWB had won a 2nd term. I do feel your pain.

I was too hungover this morning to think of anything as clever as a black armband. I am so beyond disgusted with 36% of our citizens right now I can barely speak. And take heart; my drunken rant was so bad I felt obliged to delete it.

Well, kiddo, I thought it was going to be a lot worse. Those damn Liberals were just asking for an ass-kicking - who on ?'s green earth ran their campaign? They have to cleanse the party of that sense of entitlement. Proud to say that my son cast his maiden vote for the NDP through no effort on my part, but after hours of discussion with his friends. Yes. There is a future. In the meantime, we can knit.

Harper's politics and hair scare me. At least it's a minority governement.

A friend of mine tells me that Harper said, "God bless Canada," and millions of Canadians said, "Oh, Jesus Christ!"

Heh.

Where WILL we disaffected Americans move to or threaten to move to at the very least? Where will we send our children when Bush reinstates the draft to support his supposedly not-stretched-to-breaking military? This is a problem.
