Goodnight, sweet boy
My beautiful boy died today.
I took this picture of him when I was at home over the holiday; it's not a very good one, but it's the last.
There was nothing (apparent) wrong with him, except that he was almost thirteen. Aside from having lost a little weight (very little, and only because we've had them on the old-fart diet food since I left in the summer) he was fine. Peter was out of town, and poor Dylan found him lying in the hallway and buried him. Thank you, Dylan. I wish you hadn't had to do that by yourself.
Ghod, I fucking wish I was at home right now.
Jae, I was going to answer the meme you tagged me with tonight. In fact, I was halfway through writing it when Peter called. I am going to leave it until next week, now.

Oh sweetheart, I am so very very sorry...
I miss my 2 boys so much, I lost the first almost 5 years ago now and the second just over a year ago and I think of one or both of them almost daily... Cats do that to you somehow.
Big hugs to you.

Posted by: spyderkl at February 2, 2006 09:40 AM
Oh dear. So sorry.
There needs to be a better word that 'sorry' for this. Something that conveys the fact that I'm feeling sad because you are feeling sad.
Posted by: Mita at February 2, 2006 09:47 AM
I'm so sorry to hear that, Jodi; I remember Pickle fondly. I can't imagine how it must be for you being so far away. Take care of yourself.

jodi, i'm really sorry about your cat. i once had a cat die on me while i was housesitting/catsitting. it was awful even though i didn't have a real emotional attachment to him (the way the pet owner did).
totally don't worry about the meme (i can't believe you even mentioned it) - i'm in no rush. do it when you need a distraction (or not at all - there will always me other memes).

I just got here, catching up after moving. I'm so sorry, Jodi, and I'm sorry you won't know why he died. ... all I can think of to say is what I generally think in this situation... he was lucky to be so loved.
Love,
Mandy
