grody jeen

orangina in green

I tried to think of a cute name for a sweater called Orangina knitted in green, but the only thing that comes to mind is the nickname the kids in public school used to call me.

That's a half-smile, isn't it?

Yay!

:-)

Well, the knit's cute and that's all the matters. Right?

Rawr! That looks verrah nice. Such a coy shot.

I love it in green. It's making me re-think my decision to knit it in boring black.

Lovely tank. kids can be really cruel... One kid used to call me Commie - he thought it was hilarious because I'm Chinese :(

Heh heh... grody jeen. Sorry, that's kinda funny. Kids didn't give me nicknames, instead, my parents' friends were kind enough to call me: Varmit (a derivation of my maiden name), Stinky (we won't go into that), Snot and Snuffy. It wasn't until university that my friends came up with a name for me: I was Stephylococcus. Nice.

Anyhoooo... when Terra of "Confessions of a Maniacal Thrower" finished her green Orangine, I dubbed it "Greengina" - which sounds like some sort of infection in your girly bits. She doesn't wear it when I'm around. Heh heh.

I'd go for limetta, which is the Italian word for Limeade.

I got Tidbits, which, to this day - even if it's my husband saying it - raises my hackles something fierce.

Looks great jodi! And the name beats mine: Scabs. Yup. I had bad, bad excema as a kid. Kids. *sigh*

I had nothing worse than Beanpole, which hasn't been descriptive of me for a long, LONG time.

Sweater looks great.

Kids are weird. But that's a funny name for a sweater. I kind of like it. And you;re stuck with it now...those odd things the brain throws out always stick.

Turned out really well. I like it!

ecto-cooler? I think that was the green juice box post ghost busters. The sweater looks cool. Jamie doesn't really get a nickname - only longer - like Jamison.

Shouldn't it be "grotie" though? I always thought the term was derived from "grotesque"

Posted by: peter at June 18, 2007 03:15 PM

Well, really I guess it should be "grodi" since they came up with it by switching the first letters of my name around. But as kids we always spelled it grody. Perhaps we had it wrong out in the sticks ;)

I really love the color of your top.. its one of those colors that really make me happy even though I would look hideous if I tried to wear it. Perhaps I need some lime colored socks in the future!

In my west-coast sticks we spelled it "grody," too. I love "grody jeen" -- makes me think of "The Prime of Miss Jeen Grody," the classic novel.

Anyway, great top, and nice photo!
