4019 love
Cross-posted from flickr, because I'm a slag like that. Although I'm really tempted to leave yesterday's post at the top for a while longer simply because I'm so pleased with the (stolen) title. Ah, well.
I've been waiting a long time for my beloved McIntosh apples to come into season; this is the only time of year I eat apples, and these are the only apples I eat. I can't stand the small, hard, sour apples that are picked underripe at end-of-season and saved to be sold in bags in February, so distant from the perfection of a fat, lovely, tree-ripened McIntosh.
As soon as these finally showed up in Kroger I bought twenty, even though I knew I was flying home for a week-long visit in six days. They're half gone already, and I'm sure I can eat three or four in the airport while I wait for my flight.

You should have been in Quebec yesterday. I guess it was the start of the apple picking season. We decided to take a detour back home along a tiny road that was filled with farmers markets and you picks, and it was crazy. They had traffic attendants to get people in and out of the lots and all of the about 30 apple places were FULL of people. We just got some veggies and tried to get off that road as fast as possible. Enjoy your apples :)

That was me and peaches when I came home in summer for the first time in three years. Japanese don't believe in peaches other than white, and I was hoping I'd get sick of them and ate a zillion.
I haven't had a good Macintosh apple in years either, but they have good (albiet huge) apples here. But you live in Peaches Country, eh?

If you can, find yourself a honeycrisp apple. They are not to be believed. You will be cheating on your mac-love, but oh so worth it.
