Didn't check what setting the camera was on, so today's photo is super grainy.

Do you ever consider adding trim to the dresses to see what sort of impression that might make? I thought to myself that if this dress had an underlayer of, say, tulle, or a touch of lace or ricrac, the print would then receive additional patterning. Or do you feel that this would take something away from the gestalt of the thing?

I had originally planned to make the garments all crazy, yes, with lace and weird bits and knit and crochet incorporated. But I had to sort out for myself where I'm going with this, and as I don't want the project to be about fashion, I decided to make it more uniform-like and stick with the one dress that looks apronish, and keep the construction simple. I will be adding sweaters into the mix when it gets colder, and some of them will get printed as well.

I do think, though, that once I'm done with this project I'll allow myself to sew up some totally crazy dresses with fripperies up the wazoo, and print them onto paper or fabric. I have tons of things I want to play with, of course, and have to force myself to focus on this one thing until spring. It's hard.

Oh, and that dress that everybody loved? The blue and green one? It got totally trashed today. I was printing with opaque ink (when I normally use loads of transparent base, which is how I get that gorgeous layering) in order to offset the dresses onto paper after. And then I printed that dress and forgot to add transparent base first. So it's now mostly saffron colour and the layers underneath only show through a bit. I'm almost afraid to post the photo.
