Somehow, in the backlog of unposted days I fell into as a result of a weekend trip to Baltimore, I've lost the photo of the front of this dress in this state. Having reinstated and sorted through everything in my recycle bin that was deleted that week, I've chosen to believe that in fact I forgot to photograph the front altogether. Another missing page in one of my books in the installation (I'll probably tear out the page in question then attach a new page of a flimsier paper in its place, similar to the way the library pastes in cheap copies of the colour plates that people steal; I can't decide yet whether to leave the page blank or use the image of the back of the dress, and if the latter, whether to put it on the verso or the recto of the page).

I did it again, forgetting to photograph the dress before printing it again. I don't even have being out of the studio and having my routine disrupted as an excuse this time; the dress was right there in the pile with the others, and I thought I'd photographed them all.

I'm planning to put together a book for each dress as part of the museum installation, and I'm not sure yet what to do about the states that don't have photos. Sketches? Empty dotted outlines? That seems a bit lame. Torn out pages would be better, maybe.

The camera will take ten continuous shots, and the first one often looks like this as I press the shutter and dash to my spot. I like the way some of these look: nothing but the dress, or part of the dress, and blurry movement. I'm going to try to start including images of the dresses in less controlled, less contrived situations, so I'll start by posting some of the daily outtakes.

A terrible picture, in which the dress looks a completely different colour than it really is, and all the lovely detail in the printing is lost. Ah well, it's already been printed over anyway (that's the thing about letting myself fall behind in posting), and in fact is now much duller, more like it looks here.

I made a mistake while printing this one: I was printing one of my old life-sized self portrait blocks in blue, and decided to put the head and shoulders upside down on the front of this one. I didn't realize until I pulled the print off the block that I'd inadvertently lined up the breasts in the print with the breast area of the dress bodice. It looked pretty silly, but I ended up wearing a cardigan over it for most of the day anyway.

I'm still trying to decide whether I want to fix the crooked pocket on this one; it bothers me to look at it in the photos but I don't really notice it while wearing the dress, and I sort of like that it's flawed, like the body beneath it. I'm sure my thighs aren't the same size, so why not leave it crooked?
